There are now more than 164,100 pure-electric cars on the road in the UK as at the end of September 2020 as well as over 373,600 plug-in models including plug-in hybrids (PHEVs). This means electric vehicles now make up 6.7% of total new car registrations and adding in the PHEVs bumps this figure up to 10.5%
Electric car sales in September 2020 were up 184% vs September 2019 whilst sales of PHEVs grew by 139%.
In comparison, sales of petrol cars fell by 21% in September and Diesel cars by 38%. The future is clearly electric
